Say it with me-- sitting is the new smoking. Over the years, we've learned that staying still is a detriment to your health and is hard on your body. We've got a lot of work to do if we want to shift stagnant, working culture to a better place, but how?
➡ Mix it up-- sit a little, stand a little, and move a little. Pair a fixed standing height desk with a stool to open up the option to switch things up. Go for an adjustable-height desk if you really want to find the perfect height for your posture, along with the option to bring it down to an ergonomically-friendly task chair.
➡ Work your core while you're working on a project. Wobbling bases give you some wiggle room to find the angle your body naturally gravitates towards, all while keeping your core engaged, promoting strength as well as great posture. Backless, curved ottomans or single-post stools are engaging alternatives to a simple, standard chair.
➡ Work your core on expert mode with a balance board. It seems like a balancing game or like something you'd find at the gym, but with a little bit of practice it will become second nature to wiggle your hips and defy gravity during the workday.
➡ Lean with it, rock with it. The new-and-now of active seating has to be the perch stool. A small, sometimes sloped seat encourages the user to keep on their feet while still receiving a little bit of support.
➡ Variety is the spice of life, right? Combine the previous tip with this one using our Active Perch Fit Kit-- a pivoting, wobbling, leaning perch paired with a sturdy balance board. There's nothing better than switching it up and keeping your options open.
